Application Process
How are participants admitted
into the Disney International Programs?
To begin your exciting
journey with Disney International Programs, all you have to do is contact one
of the contracted in-country agencies that assist us with International
applications. They will give you more information and show you how to apply
from your country. If you qualify, you should receive an invitation
approximately four weeks before the scheduled Disney International Programs
presentation and interview. Presentations are held in a variety of
countries throughout the year. In some cases, you may have to travel to meet
with one of our representatives. As exciting as these opportunities are, please
understand that all travel costs you incur to and from the presentation will be
at your own expense.
Working
Is this a paid program? How
much does it pay?
Yes, the Disney
International Programs are paid experiences. The pay rate is an hourly rate
with time and a half for any overtime (any time over 40 hours per week)
worked.
How many hours per week will
I work?
Participants are
guaranteed a schedule of at least 30 hours per week with a maximum of 45 hours
per week. However, during busy seasons, participants could be requested to work
more hours. The Walt Disney World Resort is open 365 days a year.
Participants may work days, nights, weekends and holidays. Participants are
expected to work the hours they are scheduled; additional hours or days may not
be available or optional.
When and where will I start
working?
Participants will spend
their first official first day of work in Traditions class. This is a training
session for all new Cast Members, which will be scheduled one or two days after
they arrive. Participants will begin training for their work location shortly
after they have completed Traditions.
If I do not like my reserved
role, can I change once I arrive in Florida?
Once you accept the role
you have been reserved, you make a commitment to that position for a particular
time frame. The only reason you may switch roles would be if you have a medical
condition that restricts you from working in a particular area.
Which days of the week will
participants be off from work?
Disney International
Programs participants typically have days off on weekdays. However, this may
vary with each work location.
Can participants get
additional time off from work?
Additional time off for
weddings, graduations and other personal occasions must be requested through
the participant's work location's management team after they have arrived. We
cannot guarantee any days off before a participant arrives.
Housing Accommodations
Where will participants live
during their program?
There are several
different apartment complexes for Disney International Program participants.
The complexes are located conveniently near Walt Disney World property
and offer similar amenities.
How do participants indicate
their apartment size preference?
1, 2, 3, and 4 bedroom
apartments are available. Participants will be able to indicate their apartment
preferences when they check in on their arrival day. We will try to place
everyone in their preferred choice of apartment. However, if there aren't any
apartments of that size available, they will be placed in one of the remaining
apartments.
What is the non-refundable
Program Assessment & Activities Fee, and when is it due?
The non-refundable
Program Assessment & Activities Fee is an $85.50 fee applied to all
students who participate in the Disney International Programs. This fee should
be paid prior to arriving on the International Program. Specific payment
information will be provided upon accepting a role on the program.
Travel to Disney and Transportation After You Arrive
Will there be someone to
meet a participant or pick them up from the airport?
All candidates will
receive detailed information on where to go after arriving to Orlando, FL. In
the past, candidates have been picked up at the Orlando International Airport
and taken to their housing complex, but starting in Spring 2008 candidates will
be directed to arrive to our Housing Welcome Center on their own.
How will participants get to
work?
Bus transportation is
provided to and from the work locations if a participant does not have access
to a vehicle.
Visa Process
What should I know about the
visa process?
Disney will assist you
in obtaining the appropriate visa to provide United States work authorization
for our International Programs. Students on the J-1 academic
program will work with their US college or university of enrollment. You will
be responsible for visa costs incurred in your home country, as well as for
travel costs to the closest U.S. Embassy or Consulate to obtain the visa. This
visa authorizes employment for your specific company ONLY. Your passport must
be valid for 6 months beyond the program end date. If you do not stay to work
for the scheduled duration of your program, you must leave the United States
immediately.
